Choosing the right keywords can make a big difference in your ability to rank high in search results.
Not all keywords are effective in the world of SEO (search engine optimization). Some are more important than others. You might be trying to go after the wrong keywords for a variety of reasons.
The first thing you want to do is visit the Google Keyword Tool and put in the keyword that you want to optimize for. This tool will show how many times a particular keyword is searched for on a daily basis. You might, for example, find two keywords that match your description with the same number of searches:
- keyword one has 6210 daily searches
- keyword two also has 6210 daily searches
Which one should you start with since you have the same number of searches?
To solve this problem, find out how many websites are in Google that also have this phrase. Google the phrase and look at the top to see how many websites you’ll be competing against:
- keyword one shows about 38,500,000 results
- keyword two shows about 6,210 results
The second phrase has much less competition and would probably be easier to get on the front page for search results. So keyword two would be the better choice to use in most cases.
There are many more on-site and off-site factors to consider for which keywords you should choose. Blue Zoo Creative has specialized tools available to allow us to quickly identify the best keywords for you. Then you won’t waste your efforts on words that won’t rank high.
